Travel Expenses
It is standard practice
for clients to pay sitters’ travel expenses to and from their home.
Insurance
Clients are advised to
check their household insurance policy to see if it includes public
liability and / or employer’s liability. The agency recommends to all
sitters that they take out their own Public Liability Insurance.
Car Insurance / driving
If the client’s car is to
be used by the sitter suitable insurance cover must be in place.
If a sitter is required
to transport a pet in the car health and safety measures need to be
assessed and discussed with the sitter prior to the placement. Such as
lifting of the pet, ramp/step access.
Meals
A main meal per day and
supply of basic provisions is expected. If a sitter has special
requirements concerning their diet then they are advised to purchase
their own food during the placement. Please discuss with the sitter.
Expenses
Some money should be
available in case of emergencies. The sitter will need to record any
expenditure and retain relevant receipts.
Checklists
A checklist is provided
by the agency which should be made available to the sitter.
Visitors
The agency discourages
the sitter from having personal visitors during the placement. Please
discuss with the sitter whether visitors are acceptable or not.
Pets
A detailed information
sheet concerning the everyday care, feeding times, routines of all
pets being looked after must be available to the sitter.
Sitter ‘time off’
Unless a sitter is
required to occupy the home 24 hours a day, it is acceptable that a
maximum of two hours per day, during the daytime (9am -6pm) be allowed
for the sitter to leave the premises.
